Recipe Exchange

Christmas Jubilee

I decided to take part in the recipe exchange over at Jessica Turner's blog, so here are my favorites:

WHIPPED SHORTBREAD
1 lb of salted BUTTER (not margarine)
1 cup of icing sugar
3 cups of flour.
Candied Cherries to garnish

Whip the butter, add the icing sugar and flour. Drop by teaspoon on the cookie sheet (ungreased) and top with 1/2 a cherry.Bake @ 300 for 20 minutes.

And my personal favorite (and one that I've yet to find anyone else that makes them except my mom...these squares are a hit wherever I take them!):

CHRISTMAS JUBILEE
1 1/4 cups flour
2/3 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup margarine
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups salted mixed nuts
1 1/2 cups candied cherries --red and green (cut in half)
1 cup chocolate chips.
CRUST:1/3 cup of brown sugar (save the other 1/3c)flour and margarine. Mix well and press into jelly roll pan.(I use a glass 9 x 13 dish) Bake 350 for 15 minutes.
TOP:Combine remaining ingredients and put on crust. Bake an additional 20 minutes at 350.

Enjoy!

New Kit!

Hello,

Designs by Angel is not only having a sale, she has also come out with a new kit, Gather Together, which you can pick up in her stores later today at Pretty Scrappy, K-Joi Studios, and Faith Sisters.

The layout Visiting Baby Roger uses only this kit. The layout the Last Night of Soccer uses this kit, and an older kit from Angel called For the Girls.

And I will be back tomorrow (likely) to give away the two templates I made for these layouts.

Have a great day!

Family Reunion

Click here to view this photo book larger

Lots of New....

Lots of new things today. First off, Happy Digital Scrapbooking Day! :)

Then, the first two layouts are done using the new Designs By Angel's kit "Three French Hens". There was a challenge over at Faith Sisters using this kit, and then it will be in her store after word. The layout "Sitting on the Deck" also uses her Freedom kit which you can pick up at her stores in Pretty Scrappy, Faith Sisters or K-Joi.

Then last, I'm offering the two templates I used for these layouts as a freebie. You can go here (for the horizontal photo template) or here (for the vertical photo template) to grab them.

Enjoy! And leave a comment if you grab these freebies. Trying to get an idea of whether or not to do more!

New Layout & Freebie

Here is the latest layout in my family reunion album. This layout uses Designs by Angel's duo kit with Project B "In A Boys Pocket". When I do layouts, I tend to create a template first for future use, and then fill in the blanks. And today I thought, why not offer a freebie? So, click on the preview of the template to download. And if that doesn't work, click here
And I've been thinking about Christmas gifts this year (probably because I've been working on the album for my parents), and I could use your help. I use swagbucks for some of my online shopping. This is legitimate, and I've redeemed for prizes before. I've been redeeming for amazon.ca (they also use amazon.com) gift cards for shopping before, and there are a few things I would like. You can earn swagbucks by searching (it is powered by google) and through referrals (you earn up to 100 bucks matched from what your referrals earn using the search and win site). If you are at all interested, please sign up here

Jessica Sprague Free Class

Have you seen this? Stories in Hand is how I got started at Jessica Sprague, and I've never looked back! She has a great way of teaching, and I've yet to find another series of classes that I can follow as easily. Not that there aren't some great classes out there, but hers are particularly easy to follow.
Hope you sign up!

New Designs By Angel Kit

Happy Thanksgiving!

We just finished our first Thanksgiving meal this weekend -- 2 more to go!

Designs by Angel has come out with a new kit, Handmade Halloween, and I just happen to have some Halloween photos from our recent camping trip (the campground we were at has a Halloween party every year on the Labour Day weekend -- which we didn't find out until we got there -- and the kids that are staying there go trick or treating).

The photos above are of my Goddaughter Mattie (and her mom Krista).

You can pick up the kit in Angels stores at Pretty Scrappy, and K-Joi.

Enjoy!

Update

Just got home from the hockey game and the Bulls won! :)
Also, just realized I hadn't updated since Tuesday, but just to keep track, I made it threw Wed., Thurs., & Fri. at the gym! Have to get through tomorrow, then I walk 5k for Run for the Cure on Sunday, so that is covered!

21 Day Challenge

So after getting sick, I took Friday, Saturday, & Sunday off. Got back into the swing of things yesterday with a 35 minute workout at the gym in the morning, and then an hour (+ warmup) of volleyball last night (and it was much more intense then Beach Volleyball was!). Got up again this morning, and squeezed in a half hour at the gym. So this brings me up to Day 7 (if you jump over my sick days)!

Layout

Sicker then a dog (well not really, but sick) so the 21 day challenge is on hold (and I was doing so good!!!), the backup plan is a little difficult when you are so stuffed up its difficult to breathe, so just taking it easy until I'm feeling a little bit better (and trying to avoid another lung infection!).

Did this layout using Angel's Duo kit (see previous post for links) with Project B. So sorry that summer is over, and winter is on its way :( This layout is for my family reunion album that I am madly trying to finish today (whether it will happen or not, I don't know).
Have a great day!

Designs By Angel

I realized today that I hadn't posted much about Designs By Angel's two new kits, "Let's Pretend" and her first Duo with Scrapable Designer, Project B titled "In A Boys Pockets". Hopefully you enjoy these layouts. Pick either kit up at Pretty Scrappy
To see layouts for these two kits (unfortunately, I've already sent mine to be printed and backed up my hard drive) go to Angel's blog here and here.
Enjoy!

Day 5

I made it! 40 minutes this morning. I can't believe its Day 5 already!
On to Day 6!

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

Day 4

Managed to squeeze in my 30 minutes at the gym this morning. Starting to get the violent cold/flu thingy that is going around the office, but made it there. Hopefully, I'll still feel well enough in the morning to go. Unless I get the actual flu, I do have a backup plan. I'll do 10 minutes of exercies (min.) 3 times if the cold thingy gets worse. Hopefully the backup plan won't be necessary!

Day 3

Made it through Day 3-30 minutes today at the gym. On to Day 4....

Monday, September 21, 2009

Day 2

Day 2, and I made it to the gym this morning, despite being tired after being awaken repeatedly by a clingy cat and a cranky other half that share the bed with me. But I got a full 40 minutes in!!! :) Now on to Day 3....

Layouts

2 more layouts today. Both use Designs by Angel's new kit In A Boys Pocket. Brushes by KPertit for Designer Digitals & MWise for Designer Digitals.
Just for the record, the kit by Angel is so versatile that I am still using it even though my assignment is over! Pick up the kit at Pretty Scrappy asap!

21 Day Challenge

Over at Rhonna Farrer's blog she is hosting the 21 day challenge. The idea is that it takes 21 days to form a new habit. This is something I need desparately. I used to be pretty good at working out all the time, but I hit a rut last year, and its been increasingly more difficult to get with it (and I have way less energy!). It is really important that I work out, not only because of weight, but for other health reasons, in particular my back. I can always tell when I haven't been working out because I am in pain! So, this is day 1 of my 21 day challenge. I want to do some physical activity every day for at least 1/2 an hour. This morning I went to the gym for an hour (finally getting some use out of that membership again!). Not something I can normally do, but 1/2 an hour is attainable! And I figure if I make myself post my activity on my blog, then I'm also held responsible by all that read this blog. So here marks Day 1!

A few layouts from this afternoon.....

I've been on a roll!!! And surprisingly, I would have more done, but I've had computer issues (too small a hard drive, and getting old!). All papers by Tia Bennet for 2Peas, and templates from Manda Girl.
All the football pics are done, now on to the rest (but probably not today)!

Just a few layouts from this morning....

Football layout supplies: Template by me (based on a layout I saw on Scrapbooks Etc. by Amy Light), all papers by Tia Bennet for 2Peas.
Lunch layout supplies: Template by Manda Girl; Paper by MTerasawa for Designer Digitals; Frame on big photo by House of 3

Cover Page

OK, so I haven't quite finished my family reunion album, but with the Beautiful Evidence course (which I've changed up the topic from me to my Family Reunion) at its completion, our last topic was the album covers. This time I decided to forgo the templates Jessica provided (which were beautiful) all because I wanted to fill in the word FAMILY with our group shots. I really like the outcome, and I'm glad I decided to step out of the box.
Supplies: Apple Blossom Dots Paper by Tia Bennett for 2Peas; Brushes by House of 3 (for Jessica's frameups course)
Now I only have about 20 more pages to complete -- Shutterfly's going to be making big bucks off me when I get this one printed!
Enjoy!

New Layouts (again!)

Sorry I can't do a two page spread side by side. My computer seems to be running out of memory and now squeaks like a mouse (its about 5 years old, so I guess I understand that its probably just about toast!). Papers by MTerasawa for Designer Digitals, Rhonna Farrar for 2 Peas, & KPertit for Designer Digitals.
I should also mention that all the layouts recently use templates from Jessica Sprague's Beautiful Evidence Class (I keep forgetting that as I've just been cutting and pasting my supply list in from the class gallery when I post!).
Love the class, getting a TON done for my family reunion album (I've been modifying the templates for it slightly). It's been a great motivator to get the album done. I'm thinking my parents will end up with a copy for Christmas!
Enjoy!

Labour Day Weekend

Got back from camping yesterday (great weather & company!), and from celebrating our (very excited) god daughters birthday. I'm now getting caught up on my Jessica Sprague Course (Beautiful Evidence). Here's a layout I started the other day and finished up today. Only have layouts 9-15 to get caught up on now!!! Haha! This one has papers from Designs by Angel Kindred Creations May 09 Collab (Burgundy, Flower, & Stripe) & Ballroom Blitz (Beige); Sage paper made by recolouring Ballroom Blitz paper.
Enjoy!
Edited to include the additional 2 pages for the Grange using the same kits. Sorry for the reverse order, but too busy to change them!

New Layout

Apparently, when I signed up for Jessica Sprague's Brushabilities Course, I was thinking ahead, and I signed up for the Beautiful Evidence Class at the same time, which should come in real handy since I have over 100 photos of my recent family reunion!
This layout has photos from our trip to Huff Estates Winery & Gallery in Wellington, ON during our reunion. I'm sure you are going to see many more layouts as I work on the album (well, you are guaranteed at least a few--this course is all about getting it done--20 layouts in total!) The class kit was used for this one.
Also, look for more info in the next few days as Designs By Angel releases not one, but two kits....more to follow!
Later!

Soccer

Another quick one of Mattie's soccer game the other day. Template by KPertit at Designer Digitals. Paper made by yours truly using brushes & textures in my stash. Off to paint some more of the house (I should be outside--its finally sunny!)
Enjoy!

Sunday, August 2, 2009

It's been a long day! I finally got some sleep last night, and then today ended up being less then productive. Oh well! We are debating selling the house, and "upgrading" to the country, so we are trying to work on it, but neither one of us could get going today despite our best efforts. So other then some reorganizing, not much got done. But we went and saw my future SIL's house that she just sold (Great Job N!), went for a quiet dinner at Moxies, came home, and while I was editing my friend Steph's wedding photos, realized I had forgotten to do my assignment for swim school at Scrapable. Got my layout done in time (see the cute little one above? that's my new god daughter Haylee!), and now its time for bed!
Night!

New Kit - Ballroom Blitz

Designs by Angel has a new kit (in her stores tomorrow) called Ballroom Blitz. Although these layouts have nothing to do with Ballrooms, here are two layouts for you using this new kit. These are of my goddaughter at soccer last week.
You can pick up the kit at prettyscrappy.com, k-joistudios.net, and faithsisters.com
Enjoy!
